Depression in its many forms is a serious sickness that could cause one to suffer emotionally, spiritually, or physically.
Depression and emotions cannot coexist peacefully, and it creates abnormal fluctuations of emotions. It can make people feel emotionally suppressed and unable to release this tension. This project explores the emotional state of this mental illness through light and sound, by encapsulating the audience into an environment similar to that of a depression sufferer. The aim is to submerge the audience into a similar mindset and to raise awareness to this mental illness.
The visual installations and auditory cues aim to convey the sensations normally perceived by those depressed to encourage the audience to self-reflect.
An exit route is displayed near the end to reflect the overcoming of the illness, it symbolises ‘the light at the end of a tunnel’ to give hope to those who have fallen ill.
